Throughout the year, our students take part in a wide range of events that enrich learning, celebrate achievement and bring our school community together. From sporting carnivals and performances to excursions, special celebrations and community events, these experiences are an important part of school life at Birchgrove.
Families are warmly encouraged to join us throughout the year and share in the many special moments that make our school community unique.
Book Week 2026 – Symphony of Stories
Get ready to celebrate the magic of books and reading! This year's Children's Book Week theme, “Symphony of Stories,” celebrates the wonderful stories, characters and ideas that bring us together through reading.
Birchgrove Public School will celebrate Book Week with activities throughout the week, culminating in our much-loved Book Parade on Friday 28 August. Students are invited to come dressed as a favourite book character and join us for a fun-filled celebration of books, imagination and creativity.
We can't wait to see the wonderful characters that come to life at Birchgrove!
Kindergarten Orientation 2027
We look forward to welcoming our new Kindergarten students and families to Birchgrove Public School.
Our Kindergarten Orientation Program provides children with an opportunity to become familiar with their new school environment, meet teachers and other students, and begin building confidence as they prepare for their first year of school.
For students commencing Kindergarten in 2027, orientation sessions will be held on:
- Tuesday 27 October 2026
- Tuesday 3 November 2026
- Tuesday 10 November 2026
Further information about the orientation program will be provided to enrolled families closer to the dates.
BPS Art Show 2026
Join us for an evening celebrating creativity and community at the Birchgrove Public School Art Show on Wednesday 16 September, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Beautiful artworks from every student from Preschool to Year 6 will be displayed throughout the school. The exhibition will also feature contributions from our playground, Sydney Secondary College Balmain Campus and local early learning centres, bringing our wider community together through art.
Families, friends and community members are warmly invited to come along, explore the displays and celebrate the incredible creativity of our young artists.
There will also be a raffle, with tickets going on sale from Week 7 and some fantastic prizes up for grabs. All proceeds raised from the Art Show will go directly towards supporting Birchgrove Public School and benefiting our students.
Everyone is welcome — come along and help us celebrate creativity, community and every child!
