Walking and active travel
Walking or using active transport can be a great way for students and families to travel to and from school.
We encourage families to talk with their children about travelling safely, including using pedestrian crossings where available, following road safety rules and taking extra care around driveways and busy roads.
Younger students should always travel with a responsible adult or as appropriate for their age and individual circumstances.
Driving and parking
Drop-off and pick-up times can be particularly busy around our school. The safety of our students, families and neighbours is everyone's responsibility.
When driving near Birchgrove Public School, please:
- observe all school-zone speed limits and parking restrictions
- park legally and safely
- take extra care around children, pedestrians and cyclists
- avoid making U-turns or three-point turns outside the school
- keep driveways, crossings and access points clear
- allow extra time during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
We appreciate the cooperation of families in helping keep the area around our school safe for everyone.
